Endodontic Treatment (Root Canal Therapy)

Root Canal Therapy is a procedure done as a result of pulp becoming infected, due to bacteria build up, and at time the pulp can die. If this happens it can cause pain or tooth ache. To alleviate this pain the pulp needs to be removed to prevent any additional damage to the natural tooth or gums and will in turn also relieve the pain.

At Metro Dental we can remove the infected pulp through a tiny opening on the tooth’s crown. The dentist then cleans and disinfects the canal areas within the tooth, before sealing it and protecting the root canal chamber with small cone shaped fillers.

Depending on the severity of the case it can take multiple visits to the dentist to finish the treatment. A number of x-rays may need to be taken to ensure the canals are completely clean.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding with a surgical or invasive procedure, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
